Seeking acceptance and opportunities, Lene Tick’s family emigrated to Denmark from Latvia, Estonia, Poland and Russia in the early 1900s. Their experiences during Germany’s WWII occupation of Denmark include escape to Sweden and internment at Theresienstadt ghetto camp. A fourth-generation Danish Jew and member of Milwaukee’s Jewish community, Lene’s life has been shaped by this history and heritage.
